The building that is now the Brown Derby International Wine Center (2023 South Glenstone, Springfield, Mo.) has had quite a history. Originally it was the Star Roller Arena, then it became the Plaza Bowl. From there it went on to house the first offices of Bass Pro and later became Toy-O. When it came time for the 26,000 square foot building to change hands once more and become the Brown Derby International Wine Center, Nesbitt Construction was the contractor of choice called in to handle the renovations.
Amazingly, the hardwood floor from the original Star Roller Arena continued throughout the building's incarnations and thanks to the skills of Nesbitt Construction, 60% of that original floor exists still today within the Wine Center.
The $850,000 contract showcases Nesbitt Constructions renovation skills as the department store-style toy store has transformed into a building boasting 12,000 feet of working retail space, 5,000 square feet of office space, as well as a single 5,000 square foot room, sealed and temperature controlled for storage of the International Wine Centers inventory of fine wines.
